US Women’s Hockey Team Politely Declines State of the Union Invite
The US women’s hockey team has declined an invitation from President Donald Trump to attend the State of the Union address tonight. The team, although thankful for the honor, said it declined the offer due to travel logistics and previous "academic and professional commitments" since winning the gold medal in the Milano-Cortina Olympics. On the other hand, the gold medalists of the US men’s hockey team accepted the invitation from President Trump after a congratulatory call from the President and landed in Miami on a military-style charter plane. The address is set to take place in a highly political environment, with some Democrats boycotting it in protest of the administration’s policies.
